lmgrd Command Line Utilities for Managing License Server

The following utilities are installed when you install the lmgrd license server software. You can execute each from the command line to manage the license server.

For the examples, use these values for the items in brackets.

<feature name> is the value in the Feature column on the Administration > License Manager page in the Admin Client. For example, "CCSG128-VA" is the feature name of the virtual appliance base license.

<license file name> is the file name of the license file installed, as saved on your license server.

Command

Description

lmborrow

Allows a user to check out a feature and borrow it for a specified period although disconnected from the network.

lmdiag

Allows user to diagnose problems when they cannot checkout a feature. Will attempt feature check out and indicates success/failure of the attempt.

lmdiag -c <license file name> <feature name> -n

lmdown

Allows for the graceful shutdown of selected license daemons.

lmdown -vendor raritan is used to shut down the Raritan vendor daemon

lmhostid

Allows the user to retrieve the host ID of the current platform.

Includes the –uuid, and, –hostdomain or –internet arguments

lminstall

Allows conversion of licenses between readable text format and decimal format.

lmnewlog

Move the existing Report log information to a new file and start a new report with original report log file name.

lmpath

Add to, override, or get the current license path settings.

lmremove

Remove a single user’s license for a specified feature.

The license server manager can be configured to prevent unauthorized execution of lmremove.

lmreread

lmreread – vendor raritan is used to cause the Raritan vendor daemon to re-read the license and options files

lmswitchr

Closes the existing report log and starting a new report log with a new file name.

It can also be used to start a new report log file if one does not already exist.

lmswitch

Closes the existing debug log for a vendor daemon and starts a new debug log for that vendor daemon with a new file name.

It can also be used to start a new debug log file written by the vendor daemon if one does not already exist.

lmstat

Retrieves and displays license file status, feature availability and usage information that it receives from the license server.

lmstat -c <license file name> -f <feature name>

lmver

Reports the version of a FLEXnet Publisher library or binary file, such as lmgrd, lmadmin, lmdown, vendor daemon.
